Teachers sent by God

Our Father really knows our needs. When my husband S passed on in Sep 2002, G was scheduled to start school a few months later in Jan 2003. I fretted over how she would cope in school and whether the teachers would be sensitive to her. Would she feel left out on Fathers' Day when all students are asked to draw or write about their Dads?

So I went to meet the Principal to explain my concerns and she assured me that G's Pri 1 teacher was very experienced. I spoke to her teacher and through various interactions found her to be very competent and extremely caring and good with the girls. Thank God for Miss C who taught G for 2 years.

When G went to P3 - I again (being the mortal being that I am) fretted (albeit at a lesser level now) over who she would get as a teacher. It turned out that her teacher, Miss K was fresh from teaching college - a very sweet young lady.

During the meet-the-teacher session, I spoke with her and was deeply infected and touched by her passion, love and care for the students. She shared that she had been encouraging G to be more outspoken and how she was so encouraged when she saw G responding positively to her. What a blessing to get such a committed teacher.

And then she shared that she had lost her father when she was very young (think at about 6 years old too) - and I think - "God, You are so good - You know what G needs and You sent a teacher who would empathise with her. Thank You Lord for taking care of G" Again, these incidents reinforce the truth that Our Father loves our children much more than we ever can. And our Father can take care of them that much better than us earthly parents. Our God can see their future and what lies ahead. If we commit our children to God, He will and can take care of them - way better than us.

N, my younger daughter started Pri 1 this year. And guess who she got as her P1 teacher? Miss C - the same teacher that God blessed her sister Gb with 5 years ago! What a wonderful Father we have! He takes care of all our needs - if we let Him too.

Dear Heavenly Father - I thank You for all your love and care for my girls - Your girls Lord. Help me not to hold on to them so tightly but just cradle them lightly in my palms - ready to release them to fulful your plan for them. I am their guardian on earth. They are your children. Help me to be a godly mother - help me to help them to grow into godly women whom You would be proud of. Amen

Thank You Lord

I read somewhere that whenever you feel upset or discontented - the best solution to help you snap out of that frame of mind is to give thanks for all the our blessings. Another appropriate time to count your blessings is on signicant occasions.

Today is 31 Dec - the last day of 2007. How time flies - I have not even completed my resolutions for 2007! I choose today to reflect on all the blessings I have received in 2007: -

1) A job with a stable income to "feed" my family
2) A roof over my head (in fact - a most wondering living environment that can only be God-sent - more on this another day)
3) Good health for my mother and children - and me
4) A dedicated, kind and honest helper
5) Fun and dedicated colleagues, and understanding bosses
6) Numerous wonderful friends
7) Countless prayers from cell members, colleagues, friends etc - you know who you are
8) Most of all - our Heavenly Father for His providence, love and care that has seen me through varied struggles through 2007.

2007 is not an easy year as I faced competition for my time from all factors of my life. Much has happened and there are various incidents that still leave me baffled and asking "Why?"

But Lord, your ways are higher than mine. I choose to trust and believe in You. I am certain it will all make sense to me in the future. Help me Lord not to be bitter and not to harden my heart during difficult times. Help me to remain close to You and Your calling. Help me to walk closer into Your Plan and Will for my life. Amen.

Finally!

I have been meaning to set up a blog for the longest time - an online journal to record God's goodness and grace in my life. Today i have finally set up the blog! I deliberated its title and settled on "Give Thanks" tagged with my favourate verse from the bible Jeremiah 2911. This is a very special verse for me as God has used it on numerous accounts to comfort me and assure me.

"For I know the plans I have for you" declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" Jeremiah 29:11

I hope for this journal to be a reminder to me to always give thanks to God and to lift my eyes to look at Him in all circumstances.

Thank you Lord for your faithfulness, grace and goodness to me - especially since 2002 when i found You again (or is it You found me?).

My prayer is that I will be a grateful person and give thanks to you always. Amen
